We’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with Motiv8 this Summer who offer a holistic based service to meet the needs of young people experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol.

We’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with Motiv8 this Summer who offer a holistic based service to meet the needs of young people experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol. For obvious reasons we can’t share photos or the amazing stories we’ve been told about how we have impacted on their lives but we can share the feedback to us from Motiv8 below. We couldn’t be more proud of the guys and girls that took part, and hope that they continue to realise life itself is full of natural highs and by surrounding yourself with like minded people anything is possible ☺️

Motiv8:
‘Young people aged 13 to 17 who use the Motiv8 service have engaged with a 6 week Crossfit programme this summer. They have all enjoyed it and has been described by some as ‘the best thing they have ever done’.

These young people are in the process of making changes in their lives and Crossfit UVA and Affinity Wellbeing has taught them that they do have the motivation and drive within them to push themselves and achieve goals, even when its tough to do so. For all of them, the gremlin inside them that tells them ‘I can’t do this’ has gone very quiet!

They’ve also learned they can have fun when engaging in something that is good for them and not everything healthy is ‘boring’.

Within the group, improvements in mental health, confidence, and reductions in substance use have been seen, with a percentage of the group abstaining completely from substances over the Summer.

Young people have said;
“Its given me more self confidence”
“It shown me that I can push myself”
“Its made me more active”
“I smoke less now and want to be healthy”
And… “its made me want to be ripped”

Our next CrossFit UVA fundamentals evening is September 15th at 6:00pm Frome, the cost of this course is £50. This introduction to CrossFit UVA (which must be completed to take part in all CrossFit sessions) will be limited in numbers and will last until 9:00pm latest. Money is payable in advance to secure your space.

There is an option to pay £77.50 which secures a 2 week ‘Wild Card’ with us allowing unlimited sessions with us, for any of our classes from your course date. The 2 week ‘Wild Card’ option is only available as part of this course and can not be purchased after. It starts from the first Monday after the course. A ‘Wild Card’ is £55 and lasts for 4 weeks allowing access to all of our training sessions. This can be purchased at any time.

What is CrossFit?

At CrossFit UVA (Until, Victory, Always) you will not find rows of stationary bikes and weight machines. But you will find pull-up bars, ropes, gym rings, barbells, rowers, kettlebells, sleds, wallballs, tyres and wide open space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting and throwing – moving your body the way it is supposed to be moved. It means that all your workouts will be comprised of exercises that mimic movements performed in day-to-day life or sport. We focus on improving functional movements that are necessary and common in your daily activities.

With our constantly varied programming, you will never get bored. We rarely do the same workouts, but when we do we do so on purpose, to test progress.

At CrossFit UVA we believe that training should prepare you for the challenges that life throws at you, the unknown and the unknowable, and with CrossFit UVA our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that consists of combinations of weightlifting, cardio and gymnastics. This program is used by more than 20000 gyms worldwide and is the principal fitness program for military, law enforcement, firefighters and first responders across the globe. The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. The same CrossFit routines can be used for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs.

Classes, or Workouts Of the Day (WOD), normally last no longer than 1 hour. You get in, get out and get fit! Our fitness programming will improve your capacity in the ten general physical skills: cardio-respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. The result is comprehensive physical fitness, restored vitality and health throughout life.
